Siphosenkosi Ncube

Producer

Siphosenkosi is majoring in television producing and writing at AFDA. She aims to write, produce and direct purposeful stories that will have a lasting impact on intended audiences. In so doing, position herself as a young, black, African female teller of tales, highlighting the importance of relaying African stories to contemporary audiences. As well as use those stories to address the challenges people face in modern societies, through visual artistic forms and crafting resonant characters.

Yonela Dipa

Writer

Yonela was born in Mthatha, a small town in the Eastern Cape. Doing her third year in television, as a writer and cinematographer. Her intial love was for music, but later drifted to the art of television. She is driven by her life experience because she has moved around South Africa and had a feel of almost every culture and the diversity of our country, therefore fueling her interest in storytelling. Being a music artist has not left her soul, it’s still one of her biggest goals that she’s aims to achieve, but she will not neglect her love for television.

Morwenna Shamwana

Producer

Morwenna Shamwana is originally from Lusaka, Zambia and moved to Grahamstown, South Africa at the age of eleven years old to attend boarding school. She is currently a third-year motion picture student at AFDA, majoring in television writing and producing. She has a passion for telling real stories and aspires to use documentary making to explore topics that are often deemed as taboo and to bring across positive, meaningful messages.

Felix Saphetha

Editor

Felix as a student at AFDA is currently majoring in post production. 

Originally  he loved being in front of the camera but as soon as he got a taste of being behind the scenes, starting a production from nothing and soon seeing the execution of the production, he fell in love with the making of television. He is intrigued by the telling of pure African stories and those not portrayed in the media internationally and one day hopes to be the visionary to bring African stories made by africans to the world.

Mihlali Baleni

Director

Mihlali Baleni (Mihlali The Guy)  is a 21 year old Cape Tonian that is currently studying towards a BA in Motion Picture majoring in directing and producing with AFDA. He is an upcoming versatile DJ that has brought the Amapiano genre to the Mother City, he is an actor, and a events coordinator.

His versatility ranges from house music, Amapiano, Hip Hop to Afro Beats. Mihlali Baleni is most certainly a man of many talents and proves time and time again that there’s no rest for the wicked.
